Zen Teh presents The Imperative Landscape (2014) and (2023) for this edition of Thailand Biennale Chiang Rai 2023. The Imperative Landscape (2023): Astronomical Alignments is an immersive installation comprising of 300 hanging ceramic pieces, photographic elements, mirrors, sculpted lighting and meditation seats, a synthesis of Zen Teh's research and interpretation of Thai spirituality.

This page presents selected supporting materials derived from Zen Teh's 45-days of research and site-studies on Thai spirituality and mountain topography in Chiang Rai in 2023. More than her recent research immersion, this project marks 10 years of return after Zen Teh's first artist-in-residence in Chiang Rai in 2013.
